Happy 102nd birthday, Kirk Douglas!
Around the globe, people celebrated and wished Kirk a happy birthday. He turned a whopping 102 on December 9. He was born all the way back in 1916 and before he built his fame in Hollywood, he was Issur Danielovitch Demsky.
Fans of Kirk might also be fans of his eldest son, Michael Douglas. Much like his father, Michael made a name for himself in the business.
For the last 18 years, Michael has been married to Catherine Zeta-Jones. For nearly two decades, the couple has been happily married and they’re very big on family. Anyone who follows Catherine on social media can see that!
To celebrate her father-in-law on his 102nd birthday, Catherine shared a very sweet video on her Instagram as a tribute to Kirk.

Catherine gave the video a very simple caption. She wrote:
“Happy 102nd birthday to the most beautiful man. We love you Kirk”
The video included a series of photos of Kirk over the years, with snippets from his iconic films, as well as pictures of Kirk with his family over the years. The video was accompanied by a young girl (Catherine and Michael’s daughter, Carys Zeta Douglas) playing Christina Aguilera’s hit song “Beautiful.”
Both of Catherine and Michael’s children, Dylan Michael and Carys, shared tributes to their grandfather, who they call “Pappy” for his birthday. These tributes will make you want to call your grandparents and tell them how much you love them if you’re lucky to have them in your life still.

Carys wrote:
“102 years young,” the 15-year-old captioned the sweet post. “To my inspiration, my pappy. i can’t put into words how much you mean to me. happy birthday, i love you.”
Both Carys and Dylan shared pictures of their grandfather from pivotal films in his career. Carys picture a behind-the-scenes snap of her Pappy on the set of Spartacus. While Dylan chose a promotional image of Kirk as Midge Kelly in the 1949 movie Champion.
Dylan wrote:
“Happy birthday Pappy 102 years!!! Though you are adored by millions, my love for you is by far the greatest. Love you forever and always.”

Recently, Kirk was able to support his son when Michael was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Kirk wasn’t going to let his age stop him from celebrating this milestone in Michael’s life.
Having his father there was a very big moment for Michael, and it was also an emotional one. The ceremony took place just weeks before his father’s 102nd birthday. During his speech, Michael made sure to acknowledge his father. Michael said:
“It means so much to me, Dad, that you’re here today. Thank you for your advice, inspiration, and I’ll say it simply, with all my heart: I’m so proud to be your son.”
Don’t let Kirk’s age fool you, he is apparently pretty tech savvy. When Michael stopped by TODAY for some promotional touring, he talked about how his father actually knows how to FaceTime and loves doing it.
