March 9th, 2020

Motherhood is hard enough as it is, so helpful techniques that significantly lighten the load are welcomed with open arms by moms everywhere.

Good thing there are fellow moms that willingly share tips and tricks that put the “fun” in functionality and help save money.

So take notes, moms! If you’ve recently done a bit of cleaning and have no idea what to do with some of the things you have lying around, these mom hacks may just take the problem off your hands and make things easier for you.

No matter how much you love your kids, there’s no denying that bedtime brings much relief. Once the kids are in bed, that means moms and dads can finally put their feet up and relax before ending the day.

Thing is, even bedtime poses quite a few challenges.

Some kids refuse to brush their teeth, some aren’t happy with just one bedtime story, name it. But maybe if you incorporated a bit (or a lot!) of fun in these teachable moments, bedtime routines may just be better for everyone.

Take these colorful wooden pegs that immediately add character to plain bathroom walls.

If the kids see some color in the bathroom, maybe tasks like brushing their teeth won’t feel like a “do I have to?” part of their day anymore.

These are inexpensive and can be repainted into a shade that matches the color of their toothbrush. It’s a great way to teach them about putting things away after use, too.

Just like this bath towel hack using hair ties.

After your little one takes a bath, brushes his teeth, or washes his face, he’ll pat himself dry with a towel and then end up leaving it crumpled on the counter or worse, the floor. Good thing this clever mom hack is great for teaching kids how to hang up towels properly! Simply sew a hair tie on the end so your kid can hang it on a hook that’s within reach.

And since it sometimes takes a little coaxing to get kids to brush their teeth (properly), how about getting creative and making your own hourglass with glitter? It’s a great timer for how long they should be brushing.

It’s colorful, sparkly, and will make them look forward to this part of their bedtime routine.

Another challenge for parents and kids are chores.

Keep track of chores with these fun DIY projects!

There are printable chore chart templates that you can easily slide in unused picture frames. You don’t have to keep printing out fresh templates, either. The clear plastic sheet that comes with the frame makes it easy to wipe off whiteboard marker ink!

Now keeping track of whose turn it is to do certain tasks is easier.

You’ll love this easy-to-make progress tracker, too.

With a printable template, puncher, strips of cloth, and a bead, your little one can track chore progress by simply sliding the bead across the cloth. Easy and fun, isn’t it?

Nothing gets your creative juices flowing quite like a DIY project or two.

And since we’re on the subject of making chores more enjoyable, this hack can efficiently tackle the issue of clutter, too.

Get the kids outside and make it a family activity to sort of get your hands dirty together by repainting inexpensive wooden crates.

Once the paint dries, stack one on top the other, and have them watch as you use hardware to attach both.

These crates are now two-layer bookshelves that can double as a nightstand!

Not only does this solve the problem of scattered books, but it teaches kids the concept of sustainability, too.

These are just some of the many useful and creative DIY projects that will help make chores and bedtime routines less boring.
