A group of dancers who call themselves Club Mob gave the staff of Co-Op an interruption to remember. As far as Halloween surprises go, this trick was definitely the one to give all others a run for their money. It was just another day at work until zombies started showing up across all departments.
It started with the preparations, which weren’t less creepier than the unexpected intrusion at the lobby. It was a gradual yet interesting and eerie transformation as the dancers layered masks and makeup to achieve a gruesome and lifeless look. Each dancer got into character without any difficulty: walking with one leg dragging, stiff, jerky movements, head tilted to one side. You can tell it bothered some of the employees while some perked up at the surprise appearance of these creatures.
The “zombies” spread out across the office, prepared to make the surprise by slowly making their way towards the office atrium. The unsuspecting employees were all equally shocked, entertained, and amused. After all, who doesn’t love a welcome interruption at work – one that came just in time for Halloween? From corridors to elevators, to work areas and the cafeteria, the dancers stayed in character. Imagine how terrifying it is to see zombies step out of the elevator just as you’re waiting to get in. Some employees who were deep in focus barely noticed the presence of zombies shuffling in their department’s workspace. Some watched in eager anticipation, smartphones in hand, ready to capture the moment when their colleagues would finally look up and see a zombie peering over their shoulder or standing awkwardly beside them.
A little spooking and a whole lot of laughing had most of the employees delighted and engaged. Each surprise was perfectly timed and caught on video.
When it was time to begin the surprise flash mob, the zombie dancers made their way to the entrance of the building. The creepy yet entertaining and impressive bit was how they squeezed into the revolving door, pretending to growl and lash out while itching to make their way into the open space.
Once they were all inside the building, they shuffled to the center of the atrium, prepared to dance. Dancing in sync to a remix of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (by James Egbert), the zombie dancers executed the trademark steps from the popular music video flawlessly. Some of the dancers who were in various areas of the office slowly worked their way to where the rest of the dancers were positioned. Club Mob achieved the ultimate Halloween flash mob, complete with prosthetics and convincing hair and makeup.
Imagine that heart-stopping moment when you see zombies inching their way to your department, blocking the main entrance, hiding in elevators, or sneaking along hallways. The fun Halloween surprise was a terrifying yet welcome one. The zombie dancers of Club Mob nailed it, making it possibly the best Halloween treat the office has ever seen.
