True love does exist.

Love is the most powerful thing in the whole world. It has the strength to get people through almost any challenge there is, and it can last for a lifetime. It is very beautiful.

More specifically, when you marry someone, you are making the promise that you will love them no matter what, until “death do us part.” That means that even when you both are 90-years-old, you still have each other. You are partners for life — you go grocery shopping together, you sleep in the same bed together, and you have a routine together.

Hopefully, when the end is near, you will still be able to count on one another.

Back in September 2015, this sweet elderly couple proved that it is possible to spend nearly an entire lifetime with someone, even when things get tough towards the end.

Laura and Howard are a couple from Florida who had been together for 73 years. Laura was not doing so well and moved into a hospice facility that year.

Laura was having a hard time seeing, and her life seemed to be slowly coming to a close. However, her husband wanted her to know that she was leaving the world with still so much love. His feelings for her have never gone away and he wanted her to know that.

So, even though Howard had a hard time hearing and walking at that point (his granddaughter, Serena, helped him walk), he paid a visit to Laura at the facility where she was staying.

When he got there, he sang Laura a charming rendition of “You’ll Never Know” performed by Rosemary Clooney — the couple’s favorite tune.

Other family members were there. In addition to Serena, their other granddaughter, Erin Solari, was there. They were all brought to tears as Howard sang lyrics about being in love. They rang so close to home, it almost felt as if the song was written just for them.

The song has significant meaning, too. In addition to being the couple’s favorite song, it also helped comfort Laura when Howard was away serving in World War II.

“At family gatherings, it was not uncommon for the two of them to sing this song together, each taking a verse and serenading the other.” Erin wrote in the description of the video. “In fact, after fifty years of marriage, they renewed their vows and performed this song as a duet for the entire family at the reception.”

Laura told Howard that she loved him. At one point, she even exclaimed, “He likes me!” As if they were two kids with little crushes.

Howard actually ended up passing before Laura, who ended up being able to spend a little bit more time at home with her family. She then passed away, just five days after her husband. She clearly waited for him, which completed their beautiful love story that will truly live on forever.
