High school students everywhere have been faced with a new reality, one where some of the most exciting parts of the school year have been canceled. Especially hit hard, is those students who have been looking forward to prom for years. This 7-year-old felt bad that his nanny’s prom was canceled, so the adorable little one hosted his own prom for her.

This 7-year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina, came to the rescue for his heartbroken baby sitter by throwing her a prom night she’ll never forget

17-year-old, Rachel Chapman, had been Curtis Rogers nanny for more than a year before the COVID-19 outbreak. Due to the pandemic, they hadn’t been able to see each other for two months before young Curtis did something for his baby sitter that’s touching hearts everywhere.

Rachel, who is a senior at Sanderson High School, was devastated that her prom and graduation ceremony had been canceled. When 7-year-old Curtis heard about her prom, he knew he had to do something for the teenager who had become part of the Rogers family.

The young boy insisted on throwing his nanny a prom in their backyard, and he pulled out all the stops

First, Curtis made Rachel a massive ‘promposal’ sign to invite her to the special event he was planning for her. Rachel was completely surprised, she explained to Good Morning America:

“I was so surprised, I had no idea he was going to go all out. It was very thoughtful and sweet.”

Curtis set up a table in the backyard with Rachel’s favorite food from Chick-Fil-A as the prom night dinner

Curtis dressed in a purple suit to match Rachel’s prom dress, before setting up a fancy dinner table with her favorite items from Chick-Fil-A.

Curtis and Rachel shared dinner, the endearing little boy even raised his juice glass to toast the baby sitter that means so much to him.

After dinner, Curtis and Rachel shared a dance while standing 6-ft apart to maintain social distancing




While dancing, they used a pool noodle to make sure they kept the CDC recommended 6ft of separation. In an interview with WDTV, Curtis explained why he went above and beyond for his nanny:

“I planned it out because Rachel probably just wanted to see me a lot and she also is one of the best people I’ve known. Rachel is one of our favorite people and Rachel’s like the best nanny ever.” Said Curtis.

Curtis’s heartwarming idea resonates with so many people, the mini-prom has been covered by everyone from GMA to CBS News

It’s easy to see why the lovable little boy’s idea has melted hearts everywhere, his special bond with his nanny was the drive behind his amazing gesture.

“She has become apart of our family, he absolutely adores her. She’s a just great person with good heart so it’s been a blessing to have her helping us out with Curtis.” Curtis’s mother told GMA.
