Imagine having something that is your absolute pride and joy, and then imagine it being taken away from you. It’s not a fun thought, right? But unfortunately, it happens, and when it happened to this one Nebraska-based farmer, he was heartbroken.

Luckily though, 200 farmers showed up to help out the young man. In fact, they went above and beyond.

The farmer, named David, had been farming forever. His whole family had been doing it for decades, too. But one day, an ancestor decided to sell the 80-acre farm which left David and his family feeling absolutely defeated.

Despite the challenge though, David wasn’t about to give up. He knew that, somehow, the farm needed to be bought back. Eventually, the land went back up for sale through an auction so David, along with his father, decided that he would save up all of the money he had to buy the farm back again.

When the day of the auction finally arrived, David and his father were shocked to see the amount of fellow farmers who showed up. Two-hundred farmers showed up, to be exact. They thought there was no way that they would be able to pull this off — there was no way they could outbid that many farmers!

But it turns out the two determined farmers did not have to worry.

The other farmers at the auction actually surprised them and ended up doing something pretty selfless and incredible.

When the moment finally came, David and his father placed their bid. Then… crickets. No other farmer spoke up or tried to outbid them. All two-hundred of the farmers were staying clear out of their way — it was something they were not expecting to see at all.

All of the other farmers purposely wanted the family to get their own farm back, so that is why they did not even attempt to go for it. The fact that they left it all up to them was one-hundred percent intentional.

They were definitely being tested, too. The auctioneer desperately tried to get bids from other people but they did not budge. Instead, they stayed silent and gave David and his father all the room they needed to win.

Because of this, eventually, the auctioneer gave the two farmers the winning bid. He slammed the gavel down and the deed was done. Once again, the farm was theirs and no one else’s. It was back in their hands and fully in their control.

You can’t always expect things to go like this but this just goes to show that we should still have some faith in humanity. Every now and then, we really seem to surprise each other with selfless acts such as these.

These farmers didn’t have to help David and his father but they did because they wanted to. And in the end, they totally changed their lives for the better. For them, this farm is true happiness. It’s everything!
