The hint for the puzzle that needed solving was “What are you doing?” and that’s exactly what Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak was thinking when contestant Nura Fountano guessed the letter “Z.”

His face twisted up as he asked “Say that again for me. Did you say ‘Z’?”

“As in Zulu,” Fountano explained.

That’s not a letter Sajak usually hears his contestants call out. Especially if they want to win!

“You did say ‘Z.” Uhh, no there’s no Z,” he answered.

Fountano’s behavior only got more peculiar from there. On her next turn, she just remained silent.

“You need to call a letter,” Sajak urged her.

However, she stayed silent until the buzzer sounded signaling that she lost her turn. Next, she guessed Q.

“Nooo,” said Sajak even more confused than he was before.

On her third turn, he just became curious.

“I wonder what letter Nura will call,” he said.

She called X even though it’s a free letter. This made Sajak laugh a bit as he told her that letter was not on the board. The only answer she gave for her fourth guess was an “Ummm,” right before the buzzer sounded.

One of her fellow contestants went on to win that round, however, she had done so well in the game as a whole that she ended up taking home the largest sum of the day at $13,970. The other men that she competed with, who were veterans, ended up going home with $6,400 and $4,300.

Sajak wasn’t about to end the show without finding out what Fountano was up to with her bizarre guesses.

“Now,” he began. “May I ask you a question?”

“Sure,” she said.

“You called some unusal letters in that round,” he said.

“That’s what I saw,” Fountano maintained.

That made Sajak laugh.

“Well, that was an unsatisfactory answer but she’s under no oath. There’s nothing I can do, but she’s the big winner,” he explained.

Though Sajak was still in the dark, Wheel of Fortune fans watching at home had some theories of their own.

They believed that Fountano intentionally shouted out letters that would cause her to lose so that her fellow contestants could also take home some winnings.

When Sajak announced her winnings, Fountano began to cheer.

“Dreams do come true!” she shouted.

And in Fountano’s world, that means everyone wins. Check out the video of her big win below.
