When Lee Bondurant and his mother Linda were out to dinner one evening, they were surprised when an employee named Five went out of his way to help make the experience better for the two.

A waiter at the 42nd St. Oyster Bar on the side, Five is a college student who came to Lee’s aid when he noticed they were having some trouble enjoying their meal.

Lee has cerebral palsy, preventing him from using his hands to feed himself. For this reason, Five noticed how Linda would juggle between feeding herself and feeding Lee.

When Five saw this from across the room, he jumped in at the opportunity to make their dining experience a little more relaxed.

Five had come over to the table and asked Lee if he had ever tried oysters. In Linda’s words, “Lee told him he had not. So, [Five] asked [if he] could he serve him his first. It was smooth not to embarrass Lee.”

“That was the ultimate kindness he showed me,” Lee told ABC News reporters.

Lee. who is 51 years old, is not accustomed to letting just anybody help him out. Working at a local Krogers, Lee is used to taking care of himself in most cases. Due to his cerebral palsy, eating is one of the things he does in fact need help with.

Lee is an independent individual in most regards, and he is selective when it comes to the people he will let feed him. Although Five was just a stranger at the time, the genuineness of the offer was apparent to Lee and he graciously accepted.

“I genuinely appreciated what he did, an act of kindness,” Lee said to ABC News reporters.

Simple acts of kindness, like this one shared between Five and Lee, can go a long way in making a person feel happy.
