One of the most talented country artists on today’s music scene is 13-year-old Emilie Sunshine Hamilton, a.k.a. EmiSunshine.

The phenomenally talented teen was named as one of Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know: September 2017,” has her own YouTube series, and has recorded not one but two albums.

Hamilton, who hails from Madisonville, TN, wrote her first song at age 5 and has been harmonizing since she was 10-months-old. Basically, this kid is no joke.

Her music is soulful and sassy, while her lyrics are poignant, powerful and mature. One of her latest songs “90 Miles” is meant to give children with autism a voice and details what others might think when they see a child with autism “acting out.”

“I write about everyday stuff that happens,” Hamilton said.”I have seen and experienced tragedy. I was in Gatlinburg [Tennessee] during the wildfires; I’ve witnessed friends in need who struggle with autism, depression, and bullying. I write about the things that people don’t like to talk about and bring it to the surface. And … I do like scary movies; that’s where I get a lot of my song ideas. I like the ‘shock’ factor and I like to add ‘shocking moments’ and lyrics to my music.”

Her music has a nostalgic feel that blends Americana, Bluegrass, Gospel, Country and the Blues.

For Hamilton, the music and songs “they just come in my head,” she told TheBlaze.

“If she sees somebody on the street she thinks about it and maybe six months later comes back and says, ‘Remember this guy we saw?’ She then she writes a song about it, ” her mom explained.

Hamilton, who has been described as a “modern-day Janis Joplin,” was launched into the public eye after a 2014 video of her performing “Blue Yodel No. 6” at a local flea market went viral. She was just 9-years-old then!

Since then her videos have received more than 14 million views on YouTube and she has amassed a following of more than half a million Facebook followers.

“Wow. Some people are just born with talent! Wonderful to see and hear!” wrote one YouTuber.

“She reminds me of Janis Joplin so much,” said another. “What energy and passion.”

She has performed on The Today Show and at The Grand Ole Opry more than a dozen times. People are just completely blown away by her. You can see why in the videos above and check out her website at: theemisunshine.com
