Soldier Shane Rader from Gilbert, Arizona was stationed for over three years in Italy and was scheduled to return home. Shane always had a very close bond with his sister Elizabeth and decided not to tell her right away. Instead, he wanted to surprise her and asked some help from his older brother John.
What follows is a very emotional moment between Shane and his very loving sister. Funnily enough, the family dog immediately barks when Shane arrives but Elizabeth didn’t pay attention to the dog’s wild enthusiasm. She continues watching television without knowing her brother just walked through the front door.
A few moments later she finally notices that someone has entered the room, and she is in absolute disbelief when she realizes it’s her brother that has come home. She instantly falls into his arms and hugs him tightly for a very long and emotional moment. During the hug, they were completely silent and let their emotions do the talking.
She repeatedly asks him “How did you get here? I just heard you on the phone.” and her brother John confesses that Shane has been home for a few days and they were planning the surprise. Elizabeth got angry for a moment, but quickly forgot about it and hugged her brothers.
“They’ve always been very close ever since they were small, so Shane being away has been very hard for her”, John said. “It’s so nice to be able to hang out together again.”
