The ultimate goal of any animal shelter is to give each of their furry residents a permanent home. The holidays, the season of giving and love, is perfect to promote their mission to provide happy and loving homes for their animals in need.
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region is Colorado’s largest nonprofit animal shelter. They help 28,000 animals every year. This past holiday season, the Colorado shelter actively publicized their “Home for the Holidays” promotion which entailed waiving all adoption fees for dogs and cats over 5 years of age. The successful promotion left ALL of their kennels empty for two consecutive days. As reported by My Modern Met, the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region successfully found forever homes for all of their adoptable dogs.
The staff and volunteers celebrated by jumping into the empty kennels to commemorate their happy victory. They posted a short and endearing video clip on their Facebook page with the following enthusiastic caption:
“What happens when your last available dogs get adopted? Your staff and volunteers jump into the kennels to celebrate! We’ve adopted out 25 cats and 23 dogs so far during our #HomefortheHolidays promotion, and for the second day in a row, we’ve adopted out ALL of our available dogs! We’ll have more dogs available later tonight or tomorrow. Keep those adoptions coming!”
For 2017, the shelter changed their Facebook cover page to persuade their viewers to adopt a dog as one of their New Year’s resolution goals, with the clever motto of: “No home is complete without doggy feet.”
