Imagine being 89-years-old and living in your home for 35 years when one day someone knocks on your door and tells you that they now own your home and that you need to leave immediately.

That’s what happened to Angie Tyma, but thanks to some kind neighbors she was able to return to her home.

When Tyma’s husband died, her home was sold to a family friend who rented the house to her. She had no idea that this person stopped paying the mortgage or that the bank foreclosed on the property and sold it, according to People.

“They threw me out,” Tyma told TODAY. “I couldn’t believe it.”

People reports that Tyma was forced out on the streets with her belongings and was only allowed to return for medicine and her dentures with the help of the county’s Human Services.

Tyma’s neighbors came to her aid once they saw Tyma’s belongings being carried out of her home. They divided her belongings among them for safekeeping and stored the rest at a local Boys & Girls Club.

They also pooled together some money so that Tyma and her two dogs could stay at a local motel where one of their neighbors worked.

Tyma, who is known for being bold and outspoken, asked her neighbor Danielle Calder for the biggest favor of them all. She asked if Calder would buy her house. Calder didn’t hesitate. So, she purchased the house back from the company who bought it at auction for $167,500 and decided she would rent it to Tyma.

“Quite honestly, I didn’t need another house,” Calder told TODAY. “But I needed her. I couldn’t see her living in a motel room… she’s been here so long. Everyone looks out for her. It was the right thing to do. We’re family — the whole neighborhood.”

Tyma was able to move back into her home, which had a fresh coat of paint on her 89th birthday.

“Usually one of my neighbors bakes me a cake every year, but this time, when I got out of the car and saw all these people, and the media… I was in a state of shock,” she said. “I was speechless. I couldn’t even talk.”

Her neighbors even moved all of her belongings back into the home, including a statue of the Virgin Mary which was back in its spot on the front lawn.

“Everybody has to rub the Holy Mother, and whatever you wish for will come true,” she told the Tampa Bay Times. “It worked for me.”

Calder says that she was “blessed” to have been able to help Tyma. Tyma says she isn’t likely to forget the man that threw her out of her house without any notice, but she is beyond grateful to be home.
