Wouldnโt it be nice to travel and get paid for spreading Christmas cheer? Well, believe it or not, there is a job that requires just those things. Lapland Safaris is looking to hire elves that will work full time through the holiday season from the end of November 2018 to the beginning of January 2019 to spread cheer.

You may have to move to Scandinavia for the job, though.
If you think this is the kind of job where you can slack off and just cruise around on a reindeer and drink eggnog all day, think again. This is a real job, and employees are expected to take their elf duties seriously. They even receive training before they start and can be fired if they donโt do their job right.

As you can imagine, a lot of people want to get a job like this.
Lapland Safaris is picky about its elves, though. It only wants the best to represent the company and assist its customers. The sillier and more outlandish the elfโs personality, the more likely they are to get the job.
According to the job description:
โAn Elf is at the same time an entertainer, a guide and a mythical creature of Christmas. We expect our Elves to be energetic, outgoing, positive persons with good customer skills. Elves work in an international environment, so good oral skills in English are essential and other language skills (French/Spanish/German) are advantageous.โ

Those who are hired to be elves better be prepared to work.
They will start training immediately and will learn how to assist customers with all of their needs. In some cases, the elf will just need to travel around and spread some happiness and cheer. In other cases, an elf may be asked to drive the elf bus to help transport guests. A good elf can do anything. The website says:
โBefore the start of the actual work, Lapland Safaris organizes an Arctic Hospitality Guide training for the new Elves. The training is part of the Arctic Hospitality Academy and is cooperated by Lapland Safaris, Lapland Hotels and local schools in tourism. Training includes learning the required elfing and communication skills. Knowledge, skills, and security are the main principles of the training. Training language is English. Employees will also be briefed to each task in the beginning of the employment.โ

It also lists some of the duties of an elf and what potential elves can expect to do if hired.
It says:
โThe employmentship is fixed-term and will start in the end of November 2018 and will endure approximately until the beginning of January 2019. We help our employees to find accommodations in shared apartments, with a reasonable monthly rent. With the staff card, all our employees can enjoy a number of discounts in various shops and restaurants in all our destinations.โ

Of course, this job isnโt for everyone.
Just because you love Christmas doesnโt mean you can be an elf. You have to be able to cheer up those who arenโt in the mood for Christmas and also have good customer service skills. Not everyone is pleasant to be around during the holidays, but a good elf can change that.
When you are an elf, you have to stay in character and, of course, look the part. Lapland Safaris requires elves to wear the official elf costume while at work, too. Itโs not exactly a business suit, but most people are OK with that.

If you have watched the movie โElfโ a few too many times and are obsessed with Christmas and spreading holiday cheer, this job may be for you.
Pack your bags and fill out the online application to see if you are selected to train as an elf. Not many people can say that they work in the elf industry. This is a great way to make some extra cash for the holidays and also make someoneโs day.
