There’s nothing better than a reunion video. Whether the reunion is between two humans or between two different species, watching the love and excitement of a reunion never gets old. This one, in particular, is so precious it will move you to tears.

An Army private and her dog had been separated for 3 and a half months — their reunion is absolutely magical.

For the young Army private, Hannah Foraker had never spent time away from home before joining the military. She was required to complete basic training at Fort Sill in Oklahoma; far from her home in Ohio. It was going to be one of the hardest things that she had ever done.

Not only was basic training going to be a physical and mental challenge for the young girl, but she would also be leaving her 13-year-old Golden Retriever, named Buddy, behind. It broke her heart to think about it.

Leaving her nearly deaf elderly dog behind was going to be one of the most difficult things she’s ever had to do.

After completing basic training, Foraker was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in Texas. But finally — the holidays came around, and after 3 and a half long months away from her loved ones, Foraker was going to fly home to Ohio for a visit.

Buddy was ecstatic when she walked through the door.

“Buddy came running, as best as she could, out of the house and said hello to everyone. At first she didn’t even realize I was there, but she did a double take and came bounding over to me whining nonstop in pure glee,” Foraker told a local news station.

Buddy has severe arthritis and is nearly deaf in both ears, but that didn’t stop her from showing off how excited she was to see her owner again.

One thing that scares Foraker the most is that she won’t be able to return home again until the next holiday season. She knows that Buddy is getting old and is fearful of what could happen while she’s away.

“I wish I would had taken photos of us while I was home because I’ve just recently been informed that I won’t be able to go home again until next Christmas. A lot can happen in a year, but Buddy is a fighter,” Foraker said.

Private Foraker says that she’s sad she’s so far away but enjoys Skyping with Buddy whenever she gets the chance. Plus, they’ll forever have this beautiful reunion video to watch; such a beautiful memory.
