In today’s society, being a woman can be tricky. Despite our differences, as a gender, we’re often tossed into the same category— the one of simply “woman”. This can be annoying; we’re clearly individuals with an array of talents, attitudes, personalities, and beliefs—but, as the following few comics illustrate, we females may be a bit more similar than we’d like to admit.

Hair Dryers: A Gift from God

Hair dryers can seem elusive to some women, and just downright unnecessary to others. And while you definitely shouldn’t be using heat on your hair every day, when it is used, the results are downright fabulous!

Got 99 Problems— and Sizing is Definitely One

Anyone who shops online can tell you that Asian sizing is much, much smaller than the sizing scales in the West. Whether this difference has positive or negative effects on self-esteem can be argued, but what we do know is that it does make shopping a pain for everyone.

Beautiful Braids (Just Kidding.)

Okay, this one may not be universal, but as a woman with thin hair, I can definitely relate. Sure, little braids may be fine, but try to do a French braid, and I can guarantee things will get ugly.

Hugs and/or Kicks

Unfortunately, the times when we want a good hug are also the ones where we need a good kick. Bonus points for a kick followed by a hug. Gentleman, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Learning to be a Lady

Blame it on parenting, the media, or just a simple attitude-problem, whatever the case, the younger generation has learned to communicate quite, um, “effectively.” This type of language is generally expected from boys, but hearing the same from a little girl can be quite a shocker.

The Mysterious Beauty Buffet

I just recently got into Korean skincare— which incorporates a 10-step routine. So, I’ve actually had this exact same conversation with my boyfriend numerous times. It doesn’t matter how many times I explain the differences, to him, they are all the same: a big waste of money.

Aging (and “Maturing”) Gracefully

They say, “Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is not”— and to that, I say, “Correct.” Why are women always the ones who have to be put together and responsible? Let’s embrace our inner children, too! From here on out, the men are on their own!

Hoodies are Gold

When you’re in a relationship, hoodies become a hot commodity. The thing is, to most of us, it’s not just a hoodie— it’s the gift of warmth, coziness, and the scent of someone we love dearly.

When “Summer” Comes

I’m a Canadian, so this one is all too real. Doesn’t matter if there’s still snow on the ground— if the temperature hits 12 degrees, I’m seeing flip flops and short shorts from here on out… I cannot lie, the regrets have been numerous.

Princess for Life

Maybe it was all the Disney we watched as children, but women, regardless of their age, will never give up that “true love” and “happy ending” dream. I don’t care if I need to kiss 70 goddamn toads as long as I find my Prince Charming in the end!

The Cycle of Hair Dying

Once you pop, you just can’t stop. But really- you can’t. I had fire-engine red hair at one point, and while I loved it, I eventually to admit my hair had been inevitably ruined- so I dyed it blue instead.

Professional Procrastination

Ha! This one may not be gender specific, but it still falls under the “things we can all relate to” category. While I’m definitely a procrastinator, I think my book entry would read something like “Making Nachos” or “Sarcastic Mumblings”.

Makeup or No Makeup— There is no In-Between

Some guys prefer a diva with a full face of makeup and a set of bouncy curls. Other men prefer more of the girl next door. Whatever the case, no man enjoys seeing the process of the makeup being washed off. Black smudges, eye gunk, wet hair… It’s not pretty, but at least it’s only temporary.

Gym Life versus Real Life

Every girl likes to be tough, but sometimes it’s nice to play the damsel in distress role too. I just want a handsome dude to carry my things, what can I say? Is that really so wrong?!

Gym Life versus Real Life II

Okay, I’m a big believer in people wearing whatever they want, but if this happens to you, just take it as a compliment and move on. You look pretty— don’t be offended. I mean, unless of course, the guy is a total jerk, in which case, you part them seas, sister!

The Injustice of Man Lashes

And I’m just going to let this one speak for itself…
