Like so many contestants before him, Goehring took to the stage with his guitar in hopes of winning over the judges with his musical talents. Rather than performing a cover of a popular song, the Nolensville, Tennessee native threw the judges and the crowd for a loop by performing his own song.

The Ed Sheeran look-alike proclaimed himself as a songwriter, and he absolutely proved that with his performance. Goehring chose to sing a song that he’d written for his best friend.

He wrote “Hurt” to express his concern for his best friend over the unhealthy relationships she ends up in. Goehring wants to prove to his friend that he’s the right guy for her.

Aside from being a talented singer-songwriter and hopeless romantic, Goehring also showed off one of his other many talents during his performance.

The crowd erupted into cheers when he started rapping a verse of the song. He then seamlessly returned to the ballad style of the heartfelt song Just when you thought the performance couldn’t get any better, he goes there and leaves the judges and viewers utterly impressed.

The judges loved the performance and the audience were on their feet at its conclusion. Is should come as no surprise that the song has had a lasting impression on everyone who’s heard it.

Since airing on America’s Got Talent, fans have been downloading his song. It even topped the singer-songwriter charts coming in at the number one song!
