Sixteen years ago, when Kevin Taylor broke his leg, his entire world turned upside down.
Instead of simply being placed in a cast, the man developed Reflex Sympathetic Syndrome (or RSD), a rare nerve disorder that causes intense, burning pain.
According to the New York State Department of Health, RSD is a type of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) that is triggered by tissue injury, including sprains, fractures, and surgery. Sadly, we donโt know much about its causes, and there currently isnโt a cure.
Kevin wasnโt too worried when he got his diagnosis. โI didnโt really think much about it. Iโm strong,โ he told KJTV. But within the next few months, heโd learn RSD was a formidable opponent. Doctors would soon tell Kevin he had the worst case of RSD theyโd ever seen. He was being admitted to the hospital for extended treatment periods nearly every 30 days.
To put an end to the manโs suffering, doctors amputated his leg, leaving him wheelchair-bound.
Despite everything that had happened, Kevin never once complained. โThe way I look at is it could always be worse,โ he said. But still, he was lonely. Kevin was self-conscious about his wheelchair and didnโt think heโd ever find someone who could look past it.
Then, in October of 2012, he met Kim Didway, who brushed every insecurity away.
โThe first time I saw her, it was love at first sight,โ he recalled. In the video, she calls Kevin โthe most amazing human beingโ and says his enormous heart makes up for any lacking limbs. The couple was deeply in love when Kevin proposed and Kim excitedly said โyes!โ
Unbeknownst to his now fiancรฉ, Kevin started attending physical therapy lessons. He wanted to learn to walk to surprise her on their wedding day.
โWhenever the preacher says, โEverybody, please stand,โ Iโm going to stand up โฆ Iโm going to walk to her,โ he told KJTV.
โIโm going to make it the best day of her life.โ

Kim is already emotional as her father walks her down the aisle, but the moment Kevin stands and approaches her will instantly melt your heart.
